Disaster Response
A campaign is underway to help neighbors and neighborhoods to recover
from the devastation of Hurricane Gustav.
Holy Grill
Last year the Federation served over a thousand meals
every month. For many, it is the only nutritious and satisfying meal of
the day.
On April 24, 2009 we celebrated the 20th anniversary of Tonia Causey's
service as the cook for the Holy Grill. Pictures from the celebration
may be viewed by clicking here.
The Holy Grill is served by volunteers from
Federation member congregations.
Kids Café
This after school program, with sites in
Scotlandville and Zion City, provides food to hungry children, grades K-12,
that might not otherwise receive an evening meal. The children also receive
tutoring from volunteer certified teachers. Approximately 1200 hot,
nutritious meals are served every month.
Interfaith Caregivers
This program coordinates volunteers who provide
transportation for medical appointments, pick up prescription drugs, lend a
listening ear, and arrange for small safety repairs for the elderly and disabled in our community.
Interfaith
Dialogue
Ongoing dialogue brings participants together to
share and learn about faith, religious diversity, and common values.
Each Fall, the community comes together to pray for a major
community issue. This event hosts nationally-known speakers who
focus on issues such as unity, justice, or peace.
Sounds of CommUNITY
Beginning in 1991, this interfaith concert features
music and dance from different religious and cultural traditions.
The 2010 Sounds of CommUNITY concert will be Sunday, April 25, 4:00 pm at St.
Joseph Cathedral.
Poverty Forum
On March 1, 2009, 170 people gathered
to learn about poverty in the Greater Baton Rouge area and to participate
in a call to action.
Come to the Poverty Forum on Sunday, March 7, 2010, 3:00 - 6:00 pm at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
